Honey Room

Rich has been spending most weekends working on converting this stable into a room for honey extraction.

Yes it was used as a stable though the lighting makes it look a little cleaner maybe than it really was.

We all had some fun of using pressurised water to clean the stable with.

Okay so, also due to lighting, it may not look much cleaner than before we hosed it down.

The first thing Rich did was to put in a tiled floor.

Then he deepened the doorway to allow for a security door to be added inside the stable door, see photo at the end of this post. At the same time he made sure there would be a good runaway for water when the room is washed after use.

Next came the ceiling complete with insulation and light. He used the same stuff, waterboard, for the ceilings and the walls. He got it discounted a little by using seconds, which is fine for what we are going to use it for. Waterboard is usually put in bathrooms, Rich put in ours, as it saves having to grout.

Here is Rich and a friend of his, Barry, putting up the 'walls'. This is the same very helpful Barry who joined us in tackling ragwort and who shared our first braai on the land.

Rich had to add  yet more to the inside of the door in order to add this sliding fly screen and get past a part of the windowsill that jutted out.

Now there are 3 doors to the room. If you look at the top of the doors here you will see the last gap that Rich filled. He did it last weekend but I havn't taken photo's yet nor have I seen it. I think Richard is justifiably proud of himself but also glad to have that big job finished. Shall take photo's of the top part and when it is full with all his equipment.
