Cold slows work

My caravan painting has come to a stop for the last 5 or so weeks as it is quite cold on the farm. Rich still goes most weekends and has finished the honey room, here showing the last two gaps having been filled.

Brick area above the window is now white with waterboard. Below show the bee excluder.

Rich is now putting equipment into the honey room and shall sort out old and new hives as well as find places on the property to place the hives. I thought we could have a hive at home in our garden. The Bee Association has had a huge increase in membership and registered hives in the last  3 yrs, but apparently there is still a shortage of bees, lots of disease and preditors.

This was the pond on 28th November. That day Rich and I dug a trench as an overflow for the pond. Only as the water rises can we see just where it may overflow. Rich wanted the overflow on the side from which I took this photo whereas the chap who dug it wanted it the other side and only measured by eye. Anyway below is a series of photo's of the progress of the dig. We were at it for about four hours and achieved what we wanted to which was more than we had expected to achieve that day. I'm sure we had some help. Oh yes Rich was walking on the ice in the pond.

It was dark by the time we left the farm.
