Firsts and some seconds

This was our second barbeque at the farm on Saturday 7th of August. It was just the three of us but our first barbie (braai) was on Monday the 2nd with a friend. Unfortunately I hadn't brought the camera that day. The friend was an old friend of Richards', Barry Guppie. He spent over two hours helping Rich and I clear the last of the visible ragwort from the land. Rich had spent two days the previous week but it was too much for him to finish (Astrid and I were at the craft camp). It took four full loads in the Berlingo to get it all together. Here is one loads worth of the poisonous stuff.

This is the red chestnut tree that Dave, the previous owner, asked us not to cut down. It was planted in memory of special horse whose ashes were sprinkled around the base of the tree.

Our first sunset on the farm.

I hope Astrid is becoming our camp chef. She is beginning to make a good fry up breakfast, nearly by herself.

While Astrid cooked Richard connected this pipe to collect water from the shed gutter. Can't remember what I was doing, I think I had started cleaning the caravan.

Astrid is having her first driving lesson.

I had hoped to plant the first plant on the land but, as usual, Richard knows better so he 'finished' digging the hole and planted the bush himself. It is either a red or a black currant bush.
